Source: "Atheism 2.0." Jul. 2011. TEDGlobal2011. Conference Presentation. Additional Information: This quote means that looking at astronomical objects in the night sky, such as the moon, helps put the problems in your life into perspective -- this is because the moon is so large, and so far away, compared to the size of a human or any obstacles we face. The TEDTalk this quote is taken from is about how atheists can and should adopt certain aspects of religion, such as tradition and ritual, for a richer, more connected life. For example, in regards to looking at the moon, de Botton explains that most people don't do this, despite the positive psychological benefits; however, in one sect of Buddhism, there are times when looking at the moon is required.
